The holiday season is a perfect time to show your thanks and appreciation to your employees for a job well done, and celebrating is a great way to foster a sense of community and connection. However, many organizations no longer have their entire team under one roof.
For those that have adopted a hybrid office model, here are a few holiday activities that include both remote and in-person employees.
A holiday party for all- You can't go wrong with a holiday party featuring ugly sweaters, festive karaoke, and/or good food. Include remote employees by live streaming the event and including them in any group conversations or activities. You can also send them care packages and/or have local food delivered for their enjoyment.
Organizing a gift exchange- A cost-sensitive and fun gift exchange is a great way to help employees get to know each other. Remote employees can have their gifts received or sent by mail, and can join the exchange virtually.
Weekly holiday challenges- Whether employees are at home or in the office, quick activities such as cookie decorating and gingerbread house competitions can add a bit of excitement to their day.
Spreading cheer via a holiday channel- Start a channel on your preferred team messaging platform for employees to share work-appropriate holiday pictures, anecdotes, traditions, playlists, and so on.
Giving back to the community- Collaborate with employees near and far to select a charity for your organization to donate to. You can also organize a day of volunteer work at said charity, and encourage remote employees to volunteer closer to their home.
